ladylarkruneI watched one of my favorite DBZ episodes on Toonami today, Final Atonement in the Dub (horrid title). It is the episode where Vegeta sacrifices himself for the sake of Trunks and Bulma. Gods I love that episode. But I felt cheated slightly. The dub which recently has been really good dropped the ball on this one. Normally I don't mind the synthed music but this time it stood out way too much. And some of the delivery was off. Chris Sabat who normally does such a great job was totally off the mark in terms of emotions conveyed.
I don't know. This one of the few times that I prefer the original Japanese to the Dub in respects to DBZ. Normally I don't like the Japanese because Goku, Adult Gohan, Krillin, and a few others are played by women, and I can tell. It bothers me and breaks the fourth wall so I can't get into the series as much. Sigh -- I think I am going to have to dredge up the fan subs and watch that ep again.
