Homophones!!!!

Ok just so you know one of my pet peeves is homophone misuse. But you can't seem to escape it not when you read a lot of fanfiction or student papers.

some examples from today include

"She gave him a wicked smirk and put her hand at his waste."
Yes, she sidled up to him coyly and fondled his fecal matter. That is not what I think the author meant.

"He sat on the royal thrown of Vegeta-sei, brooding silently."
I don't know what royal thing is hurtling through the air is, but if he can sit on it and brood it must be in low earth orbit or something.

"He handed her a vile to analyze."
Now the way I am reading this is he handed her a horrible person and wanted her to look at him. Or not. ^_^

"She rapped a sheet around her body."
To quote my friend John and my chat --
Zyvernia: so she busted a rhyme as she did....something....with that sheet
LadyLarkRune: maybe she meant a sheet of music? But still.

Now I know that this is funny and at times it makes me laugh when I read them. But come on people, you should know better.
